This project was mainly to raise funds for the surgery of 24years old Kum Tabitha. We created a video to create awareness, it was shared worldwide but under the contribution info of Pastor Mekwilli Williams based in Buea, Cameroon. As the video went on over a period of 7days other organizations, groups, individuals and associations came in with huge financial and mental support. Lots of goodwill Samaritans sacrificed their time to go visit her and pastor (her guardian) at the hospital. She was admitted in Laquantini (Douala Regional Hospital Bonaberi). Overall contributions from Smiles Africa and other organizations was 13million francs cfa with SMILES AFRICA coming in with $275 (160,463 fcfa). Her samples were carried to the lab and tested and the results which came 2 weeks later proved that it was a malignant tumor and surgery dates were scheduled. Mme Henriette Thatcher’s blog totally took over the media case and handled every update of Tabitha on the media excellently and honestly and was able to still get more funding from the public. Tabitha was receiving so much love and support although getting pale by the day. Well-wishers and prayers came from far and near. She started undergoing chemotherapy from home (in Muea) to hospital as was the decision taken by her family until her 3rd chemotherapy were she started complaining of pains and was rushed back and admitted in the hospital were we heard no news about her until April 20th 2020 at 9:00am Cameroon time when she gave up the ghost at Laquantini Hospital and was buried April 30th 2020 in Kumba. May her sweet loving and gentle soul rest in peace. Amen.
