At this point SMILES AFRICA has become a reality beyond expectations. Wherever God is present there is a certainty of excellence. We had the opportunity to partner with a group of organizations and people on an initiative introduced by the METUMAH/S FOUNDATION. We partnered with an amount of 40.000fcfa on a budget of 134,900fcfa. The main purpose was a workshop idea to train the children on how to be creative, by making items that they can feed on and also sell as a petit trade in order to earn a living. Things trained on were making hibiscus drink, chin-chin, wigs, corn-rows/braiding, peanuts, haircuts and talks on animal husbandry and farming. It was basically a vocational training session with no certificates awarded. There were talks on corporal hygiene by 4 volunteers, a BBC mini-health campaign by a Doctor and 12 student doctors. It was a great day and we were glad to had partnered for this project although we had no SMILES AFRICA VOLUNTEER on site but our partnered organizations handled it all perfect.
