This project was carried out on the 18th December 2021 at Good Memory Bilingual Nursery and Primary School Ntankah for the kids, and the Regional hospital Bamenda for the sick. It was aimed at providing items such as toys, books, clothes, snacks, stationeries etc for the pupils of Good Memory, and financial aid for the sick. The board members available for this project were; Glavic, Clinton and Wendy and accompanied by one volunteer; Adel. A sum of two hundred thousand eight hundred and forty Francs CFA (200,840 FCFA) was used for this project to be realized.
Arrival at the school was 11:25a.m. We were given a warm welcome by the teachers and pupils of the school. They all stood outside, and clapped as we made our entry into the school. The items were displaced and the pupils were made to stand on their lines, waiting for us to finish with some few arrangements. (i.e. sorting out the various items to be distributed according to the classes)
The program started with opening prayer by the head mistress of the school, who prayed for God’s blessings and protection. After the prayer, she gave a short speech, where she welcomed us and gave the kids an idea of why we visited. After the introduction by the Head mistress, the board members/volunteer introduced themselves and gave words encouragement to the kids and also created an atmosphere for the children to laugh.
When the board members were done with their introduction, the children were all asked to introduce themselves, stating what they will want to become in future. This process went on for all pupils from nursery to Primary 6. They kids all introduced themselves and stated professions such as doctors, engineers, teachers, musicians, president etc.
After all the kids had introduced themselves, one of the board member, Clinton gave a short talk on education, inspiring them to work hard in order to be what they all mentioned and that they should respect and love one another and also their teachers, elders and parents.
The kids were later on allowed to have some fun by dancing and singing, while each class collected their gifts one after the other. When the sharing was complete, the head mistress showed her appreciation and a closing remark was done and pictures were taken to end the day.
To conclude, this project was a great success because we didn’t encounter any hindrance along the way, considering the state of Bamenda and most importantly the teachers and pupils were so happy with the gesture and even wished that we could come often.
