Children at Orphelinat Foundation Essos explored practical skills through a partnership with Metumah’s Foundation and CEFPREPAS.
At Orphelinat Foundation Essos in Yaounde, a day of practical learning gave children space to explore their creativity and try something new. Smiles Africa supported the initiative alongside Metumah’s Foundation and CEFPREPAS, a vocational training centre in Soa.
The activities included making hibiscus drinks and chin-chin, hairdressing, braiding, haircuts and conversations about farming and animal husbandry. Children were introduced to skills they could practise and build on.
The gathering also included personal hygiene talks and a health-awareness session led by a doctor and student doctors. Partner organisations brought their knowledge and time into the children’s learning space.
The day reflected the value of people sharing what they know. A practical demonstration can open a new interest; patient encouragement can give a child room to try.
We thank the partners and volunteers who made these activities possible. Their willingness to share their skills helped create a day centred on learning, care and possibility.
