On 15 May 2026, Smiles Africa’s South-West team joined Friends Without Borders at the Divisional Officer’s Office in Buea for a morning of community service.
Together, volunteers swept the premises, collected waste and cleared grass and debris. They also shared messages about hygiene and caring for the environment. The work brought practical care to a public space used by staff, visitors and the surrounding community.
Four Smiles Africa volunteers took part alongside the partner team. With brooms, waste bags and time freely given, they contributed to cleaner surroundings for the people who pass through the office each day.
This gathering was an everyday expression of community spirit: people working side by side to look after a place they share.
We thank Friends Without Borders, the volunteers and the office community for making space for this collaboration. Their shared service showed how care for a public place can also be care for the people who use it.
