SAMS 2025: Empowering Africa’s Youth Through Mentorship and Skill Building

Quality Education, Zero Poverty

At Smiles Africa Organization, our mission for our program SAMS is to nurture young minds, build confidence, and equip African youth with the skills they need to thrive. The Smiles Africa Mentorship program (SAMS) 2025 was a shining example of that mission in action; a season filled with learning, creativity, and impact.

From June 24th to August 22nd, 2025, the SAMS program brought together passionate mentors and mentees in a vibrant exchange of ideas, skills, and community service. What started as a small group grew into a family of dreamers and doers determined to create positive change.

SAMS 2025 kicked off with a series of planning sessions where mentors refined their approach and aligned on goals. Soon after, classes began with a growing number of mentees, eager to learn everything from public speaking and traditional regalia design to graphic design, pastry making, arts and crafts, calligraphy, spoken word, and make-up artistry.

Each day was an opportunity to explore new skills, challenge comfort zones, and build confidence. From crafting beautiful handmade envelopes to baking their first batch of doughnuts, mentees experienced learning by doing, the Smiles Africa way.

“Watching our mentees evolve from shy beginners to confident creators was the most fulfilling part of SAMS 2025.”

Mentor Kelly, Coordinator

Beyond the training room, SAMS reached out to the wider community through youth sensitization campaigns in the Ndamukong neighborhood. Mentors and coordinators distributed flyers, shared opportunities, and encouraged young people to choose skills training over idle holidays.

A key highlight of this year’s program was the visit to Helping Hands Orphanage on August 21st, where mentees donated books and school materials. It was a touching reminder that learning and giving go hand in hand.

The program closed on August 22nd, 2025, with a joyful graduation ceremony. Each mentee proudly received a Certificate of Participation, and mentors were recognized with Certificates of Mentorship. The day was filled with laughter, gratitude, and celebration.

 Lessons and Way Forward

Every great program faces challenges, and SAMS 2025 was no exception. From communication gaps and limited training materials to logistical hurdles, we encountered obstacles that became opportunities for growth.

To build an even stronger SAMS 2026, we’re focusing on:

✅ Starting sensitization earlier to reach more young people before holidays.

✅ Enhancing mentor–coordinator communication.

✅ Providing all training materials (gas plates, laptops, Wi-Fi, etc) from day one.

✅ Strengthening community partnerships for better accessibility.

These lessons are the seeds of an even brighter future for SAMS.

Thank YOU!

We extend our deepest appreciation to our mentors, mentees, partners, and supporters who made SAMS 2025 possible. Your dedication continues to prove that when Africans empower Africans, communities thrive!

SAMS 2025 wasn’t just a mentorship program… it was a celebration of hope, creativity, and the power of shared purpose. Together, we are building a continent full of confident, skilled, and inspired youth.
