Santa Box 2025

Zero Hunger

The Smiles Africa traditional Christmas outreach project, Santa Box 2025, was successfully implemented in the South-West Region for the first time since the project’s inception. This annual initiative, centered on gift distribution, community sensitization, and meaningful human connection, was held on December 19, 2025, in Sandpit, Bakweri-Town, Buea, South-West Region of Cameroon.

The project targeted 30 beneficiary families, including children, in line with Smiles Africa’s commitment to addressing food insecurity and promoting social welfare.

Through this outreach, the organization advanced its contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger, by providing essential support to vulnerable households during the festive season.

The project targeted 30 families, including approximately a dozen children, residing in Bakweri-Town, a small community in Buea. On one hand, the initiative sought to support vulnerable households during the 2025 festive season by providing essential items such as rice, cooking oil, seasoning cubes, sugar, tomatoes, soap, and clothing. On the other hand, the outreach also served as a platform for community sensitization and the creation of meaningful human connections, reinforcing Smiles Africa’s mission to restore hope.

Overall, the project execution was supervised on-site by the Project Manager, Petra Lumnwi, with support from Pastor Blaise M. and four (4) external volunteers. In line with state regulations governing public activities, the project required formal authorization from the Senior Divisional Officer’s (S.D.O.) Office and the local government prior to execution. This approval process was coordinated by Blaise M. and was successfully granted on December 18, 2025, ensuring full compliance with all applicable guidelines and control measures.

The successful implementation of Smiles Africa’s Santa Box 2025 project marked a meaningful milestone in the organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable communities. The outreach was met with overwhelming appreciation and satisfaction from beneficiary families, who expressed joy and gratitude for the timely support received during the festive season. The food items, essential supplies, and gifts not only met immediate needs but also brought dignity, relief, and a renewed sense of hope to the households reached.

Beyond material support, the project fostered genuine human connection and community engagement. Beneficiaries openly shared words of encouragement, prayers, and blessings
for Smiles Africa and its partners, acknowledging the organization’s compassion and commitment to serving those in need. These expressions of goodwill reaffirm the positive impact of the initiative and strengthen the organization’s resolve to continue delivering people-centered, impactful interventions.

Overall, Santa Box 2025 successfully achieved its objectives and reinforced Smiles Africa’s mission to uplift communities, promote solidarity, and contribute meaningfully to social well-being.
